My Sweet Elizabeth

I am so behind on scrapping pictures of Elizabeth, so I thought I would create some pages digitally. I love this picture of her at her 1st birthday party. Isn't she the cutest?

I love pink and yellow paired together. It's so girly! The background paper is Stampin' Up! Flirtatious. The flowers, doily and other elements are from a download I got a while back. I always use My Digital Studio to create my digital pages, but want to try creating in Photoshop. When using MDS, you can add shadows to certain elements, however, if you are using downloads from other sites, the shadowing feature does not work correctly. If I tried to put the shadow on the flowers above, there would be a square box around them. I know there is a way to add these elements in the back side of MDS to actually turn them into a stamp or embellishment, but it takes a lot of steps. Maybe one day I'll have time to tinker around with it all :)
I have a couple more digital pages to share and will in the next few days. So until next time...

Summer Memories

Grayson has had a fun summer so far! He loves to be outside and one of his favorite things is playing with the bubble machine Mariah got for him. She always takes a ton of photos when they are out playing and she gets the cutest shots of him. I used two of the pictures she took last week on this digital layout.

I have seen a lot of layouts lately using a large black and white photo as the background and then a smaller picture in the foreground as more of the focus. I really like this effect and finally tried it :) I love how this turned out! I used some new downloads that I purchased on a site called The Lilypad and they have a ton of kits that you can purchase and some images are free :)
I've been working on projects for September's Scrap n' Art magazine this week and am so happy with the results of one in particular. Designing for the magazine is so much fun for me, but leaves little time to create a lot to be shared here on my blog. I really need to carve out some time to just create without having an assignment to work on. Soon. Hopefully :) I do have a couple more digital pages that I've created to share with you, so tomorrow I will post another. Until then...

Here's a Sneak Peek

Thought I would share another sneak peak of one of the articles in July's issue of Scrap n' Art magazine! It just makes me so proud to be a fellow designer with all the great talent in this group!! Each month gets better and better!! Just when you think the projects can't get any more awesome, they do!! Here is a peak at the card that I created for a tutorial using Tsukineko irRESTible sprays and shaving cream. Check it out!! Click on the picture to take you to the tutorial :) (Disclaimer: there is a small subscription fee for the magazine, but it is well worth it!!)

I haven't done the shaving cream technique in some time, but really love the effect. I was looking back through some of my blog posts from a few years ago and forgot how many cool techniques I used to try. Some turned out great, some not so great, but I was always trying new ones. I used to post all my projects on Split Coast Stampers and was always looking for new things to try. I haven't posted anything on that site since 2012! It was fun looking back on my earlier projects to see how I have grown as a crafter in general.  I noticed that my style has changed some and that I am a lot more advanced than I used to be. I do still try new techniques, but not as often as I used to. I still love bright and happy colors, but I also love the shabby, messy, distressed look. I think I will make a list of the techniques that I really loved and try to use one in a project every week. What is your favorite technique? I would love to know!!
Well, that's all from me tonight. Until next time...

Sweet Baby Girl Banner

My daughter's friend had a baby shower this past weekend and they asked me to make a banner for the shower. I tried to get pictures of it Friday night but it was too dark in the Art House to get any good ones. They took some at the shower and are a little blurry, but I told you I would share them, so here they are!!

A couple of the letters got a little out of place, but you get the idea :)  I love the colors of the papers that I used and the ribbons and buttons are so cute!! I created the onesies in My Digital Studio, printed them and cut them out. Each onesie is hung with two mini clothes pins that I strung together with some colored twine.
This past Saturday I spent some time with my sweet friend Kristie. She is a designer for Art Anthology and does a Ustream show about once a month. I was there when she broadcast live this month and boy was it fun!! Even if I hate the sound of my own voice on tape, lol. She is one talented girl!! Check out the video here: http://www.ustream.tv/search?q=art+anthology
That's gonna be it from me tonight. I'll share another sneak peak of one of my magazine creations soon :)
Until then...

Scrap 'n Art Projects for July

Oh my! where has the time gone?! It seems like yesterday I posted here on the ol' blog, but noticed that it's been a while. Been so busy with magazine projects and just life really. I want to share a little sneak peak of one of the projects in this months' Scrap 'n Art magazine.

We got some really awesome products from Studio Calico to use and this page is one project that I created. That's my granddaughter Elizabeth as the flower girl in her uncle's wedding. I love that precious girl so much!! She is growing up so fast and is so smart. I am truly blessed to be her "Lollie".
I absolutely love making flowers to add to my cards, pages and other projects. And I love tucking strips of tulle between the layers of flowers for an added girly touch :) It's the little things, ya know?! Another element that I am loving these days is cardboard with the corrugated part exposed, then paint added. You can see a little of that peaking out under the picture. Just gets me all giddy, lol.
Be sure to check out all the projects in this month's issue of  Scrap 'n Art magazine!!! I'll be back soon to share another sneak peak and a cute little banner I'm working on for a baby shower. Until then...
