My Christmas Mantle

Hey y'all!! I'm back to show you my mantle for Christmas. Yeah, I know Christmas is over, but my decorations are still up, lol. And besides, there are only a couple of Christmas things on the mantle which can easily be swapped out for something else :)

The newest addition to my mantle is the big window that I attached chicken wire and then burlap to the back of. I hung the "Merry" banner to the window with clothes pins.

I added the gold snowflake and star among the ceramic birds, candlesticks, little red lantern and a big glass bottle.

I've seen the Mason jars with bottle brush trees in them on Pinterest and of course had to copy that! lol
I used small white bottle brush trees and "snow" that I had already to make these "snow globes" :)

I put green glittered Christmas balls inside this cloche that I have had for a while. I bought it at a really neat greenhouse/gift shop in Hilton Head, SC. It is metal and is a little rusty, just what I love!! The candle stick on the right just has a red and gold glass mosaic vase that I put a candle in.

I have not worked on any crafty things for a couple of weeks now, but hope to get out to the art house in the next few days to work on a few things. I promised my Mom a canvas piece for one of her Christmas presents, so I must work on that! There is also the big mess that must be cleaned up from creating things for the craft fair that I did. I didn't clean after each project because of the time crunch I was in, so it's more like a junk house than an art house at the moment, lol.
That's it from me today! Hope y'all have a very Happy New Year!!! Until next time...

Merry Christmas!!!

Sorry I have been slacking in blog land lately. This time of year is just so crazy busy at work and home that I barely have time to breathe!
We celebrated at my house today with my parents, my kids, their spouses and my sweet grand babies!! We also had a special guest, my son-in-law's mom, who is just the sweetest lady :) Even the dogs had fun (my parent's dog came to visit with my dog, lol) I did not get any pictures as I was busy holding the grand babies almost the entire time :) This is one picture that my daughter, Amber took on her phone.

I added the candy cane border and caption using Then I noticed they had a new feature for the holidays and played around a little, so this is what I did :)

Cute, huh?!
My daughter, Mariah AKA The Photographer took lots of pics but I am sure she has not had time to edit them, yet. But I can't wait to see them all!! When we were opening gifts, Grayson got some awesome toys, but all he wanted to do was use a box as a drum, lol. At one point, he and Elizabeth both were beating on the box and singing! It was so cute!! We had an awesome day, but I am exhausted! Tomorrow, we get to kind of do it all again, but without gifts. We always go to my parent's for breakfast and we'll get to see my brother, sister-in-law and some cousins :) Can't wait!!

I wish y'all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!! Until next time...

Oh, Christmas Tree, Oh, Christmas Tree!

How lovely are your branches?! This year I went for a whimsical, cutesy theme for my Christmas tree :) Having two grand babies gears me toward decorating through their eyes and I wanted the tree to be cute and magical for them. I wanted it to be colorful and look like it came straight from the North Pole with elves and candy and cakes on it.

I bought a slim 7 foot tree this year because we bought a huge sectional sofa that takes up most of the living room and I knew the other tree would not fit anywhere. I actually had to put the tree in the dining area right next to the front entryway, but this tree fits perfect there! I added the multi-colored lights first and then two long garland pieces made with white mesh ribbon. Then the real fun began! I added large candy and cake ornaments and large whimsical flowers and the cutest elves :)

A cute little girl elf to represent my
sweet granddaughter Elizabeth
And a mischief little boy elf to represent my
cute grandson Grayson. Notice the boy elf
is hanging upside down :)
The tree top is colorful and whimsical, too, of course!!

I bought almost everything on the tree from Carolina Pottery, one of my most favorite stores! They always have the cutest tree displays and I based my tree on a mix of two or three of the trees that they had on display. I loved the elf tree they had and the candy/cake tree was adorable!! I have done something different with the mantle this year, too. We can't get to all of my Christmas decorations so I am having to make do with other things, but I am pretty happy with what I came up with :) Come back later this week to see that!! Until then...

Craft Fair Display Pics

Well, the craft fair has finally come and gone and I though I would share some pics of how I displayed everything. I did not make a bunch of money like I had hoped but I had fun hanging out with my daughter and her sweet mother-in-law and other friends that dropped by to see us! If you have been following me for a while, you have seen a lot of the items that I made for the craft fair. And if you are interested, it is all for sale!! Just send me a message via email or Facebook! There are a lot of pics, so I will stop talking now :)

I used my altered suitcase to hold coaster sets, flower
pins, picture clips and one of my banners. Two window frames
hinged together display another banner and a decorated
snowflake door hanger.

A bi-fold louver door behind the table holds the large stocking
and chicken wire wall hangers.

I used a wire mannequin to clip my
handmade greeting cards from.

Memory Wire bracelets are displayed in a flat wicker basket
that I lined with a vintage crocheted edge napkin.

A close-up shot of some of the items for sale.

A close-up shot of the suitcase.

My business cards :)

I used a vintage eyelet bed skirt over black table cloths to
cover my tables. To hang the candy canes, I stuck an ornament
hook in one of the eyelets and just hung them on the hook.

It's kind of hard to tell, but I used
a tomato cage to hang my Christmas
ornaments from.

This is a creation that I haven't really shared
with you yet. It is a chicken wire "wine bottle".
It was a happy mistake and I will share that with
you in another post.

This is the little tree that I decorated last year with
cute little cakes and candies (fake of course). I reworked
it to add lights to it :)

Last week was really busy at work getting ready for our company Christmas party and between that and preparing, setting up for the craft fair, etc., I was exhausted! I didn't even unload my car for a couple of days! I did manage to fill a few orders of some custom bows and get my Christmas tree up and decorated. I am only putting up the tree and decorating the mantle this year. Things are too crazy busy to put up the village and other decorations that I normally put up. I will share pics of my tree tomorrow and my mantle as soon as I finish decorating it :) Until next time...

Altered Suitcase

I have had this suitcase for many years. I removed the lining because it was discolored and ripped. And then I did nothing with it for a couple of years. My daughter Mariah was using it in photo shoots. Here is my grandson Grayson sitting in it for his Halloween pictures. Isn't he the cutest thing?!  :)

I changed the inside of the suitcase but left the outside as is. I like the color and patina of the outside, but the inside needed some work.

Do you want to see what I did to the inside??

Yep, you see burlap and lace :)

I used a printed burlap ribbon for the sides and an eyelet fabric with lace trim for the inside bottom and top.

I will be using it as a display case for some of my creations at a craft fair next Saturday. I set up my tables today so I could see how I wanted to display everything. This is what I think I will do with the suitcase :)

I have a few more coaster sets made to add to it and I think instead of the ornaments hanging on the top I will display some flower pins I made. I still have quite a few things to make for Saturday. I did make a couple things today and will share those soon. Until then...
