Grayson Name Banner

Finally getting this posted!! The is the name banner I started making for Grayson a while ago and finally finished it last weekend. The letters are chipboard that I painted red and adhered to a chipboard coaster that is covered in blue jean print paper and two coordinating paper triangles. There is a monkey head between each letter. You saw one of these monkeys on the canvas I made and posted the other day. For the hanger, I inserted a large eyelet and then strung some brown grosgrain ribbon and tied it in a knot.

I love those little monkeys. Their faces are so funny! I am sure they will feel right at home with all the other monkeys in Grayson's nursery :)

Tomorrow we are having a Harmon Family Reunion and I can't wait to see all my aunts, uncles and cousins! My Uncle Clayton and Aunt Pam are visiting from Washington, so it will be great catching up with them, too.
I also want to move some things around in the art house in hopes to get a little more organized. More on that later :)
That's all from me tonight. Until next time...

Turquoise and Red Memory Wire Bracelet

A few months ago I took a jewelry making class at the monthly crop that I attend. I had never worked with Memory Wire before and loved the bracelet I made in that class. I loved it so much that I ran out the next day and bought Memory Wire. I have made a couple other bracelets since then, but when I found the turquoise and red beads, I knew they would made an awesome bracelet. I finally carved out some time this past weekend and made it!

Turquoise and red color combo is my favorite lately! I have even used these colors in my home décor :)

I wore it to work the other day and got lots of compliments on it! Do you like it? What color combo do you find yourself using in your fashion and cross over into your home décor?

I was going to share the name banner I made for Grayson's nursery today, but I'm not done editing the pictures yet. I will share those tomorrow. Until then...

Grayson Little Monkey Canvas

This is my sweet grandson Grayson. He is the sweetest little boy :)

This is a canvas that I started working on before he was even born. Mariah (my daughter AKA Grayson's Mommy) started planning the sock monkey themed nursery the minute she found out she was pregnant. I was a little worried that he might be scared of all those monkeys in his room, but am happy to report that he loves them!!

This canvas is 16x20. I painted it with red acrylic paint and then Mod Podged crumpled tissue paper all over it.  The chipboard letters were painted blue and then stamped with a canvas stamp in brown ink. I got the picture frame from Goodwill for $1.00. First I painted it with Annie Sloan Old White Chalk Paint and then in blue acrylic paint. I sanded some of the blue paint off to distress it and then added dark wax to the edges and in the crevasses. Finally I added a coat of clear wax.
I added burlap inside the frame and put the picture on top of the burlap. The little burlap flower was made with some scraps. The little felt monkey came in a pack of monkey stickers. You will see more of those on another project :)
Under the frame, I glued cork letters spelling "cute". Then I glued a piece of burlap ribbon in a pleated pattern along the bottom. I strung the "little monkey" letters on a piece of wire and tied it to the burlap ribbon with red thread.
I gave this canvas to Mariah, along with a name banner that I made for our little monkey's room :)
I will share the banner with you tomorrow!!
Until then...

Photo Clips

A few weeks ago I made a bunch of picture clips for a craft fair that I was in and they were my biggest seller. These are made out of the large binder clips. I got this idea several years ago from my Mom. We worked in an office together and used the large binder clips for big files. One day one of the binder clips was standing upright on her desk and she said how cute would these be as a photo clip. I big light bulb went off in both our heads!! That's how the photo clips started!! Here are a few that I made recently.

They are all different, but I love them all!! Aren't they cute?? I can't choose a favorite :)
That's all from me tonight. Until next time...

"Love These 3" Canvas

Sorry I have been MIA lately. Life got a little crazy after the travel crop. I still haven't gotten everything put away and the art house really needs a good purging and cleaning up, but it will take a while. I did manage to get several different projects completed today!! This is the canvas that I started working on at the travel crop and I finally finished it last night :)

This color combo is one of my favorite lately. So fresh and fun!! I started by painting the canvas blue and Mod Podged torn coffee filters all over it. When that was dried, I rubbed a Tim Holtz distress ink pad all over it to highlight the wrinkles. Next, I randomly dry brushed on white and orange acrylic paint on the canvas and also took the distress ink pad and just stamped with it to make the square pattern. I used a piece of plastic canvas as a stencil and applied some modeling paste in random spots, then when dried I rubbed the same distress ink pad over those areas.

The chipboard letters and the wooden number 3 were painted with Annie Sloan Old White Chalk Paint, then painted with orange acrylic paint and distressed. That's all I got done to the canvas while at the travel crop and then it just sat untouched until this past week.

I painted the picture frame with Annie Sloan Old White Chalk Paint and then added Crackle Paint Medium to it and then painted it with orange acrylic paint. It did not crackle as much as I wanted, but I still like it :) The picture is one that was taken about 2 1/2 years ago. I printed it in sepia tone so the colors would not compete. The blue and yellow flowers are from a bunch that I bought at Michael's for $1.00 and I made the little brown one. I made the butterfly a while back. It was stamped, embossed, cut out, glittered and finally painted. The bow was made from brown mesh ribbon from Stampin' Up! I tucked the little pearl accent behind the bow just to add a little touch of whimsy :)

I felt like it needed something and have seen and used banners a lot lately and thought that would be really cute. I cut each triangle out of some coordinating papers, punched slits in the top of each and strung them on blue crinkled seam binding.
I really love this canvas!!! It will be hanging proudly in my living room :)

I know this post has been long winded, thanks for hanging in there with me :)
I hope y'all have a great week!! Until next time...
