Easter Basket Swap

I was in an Easter Basket swap this month where we had to alter a "basket" and fill it with goodies for our Secret Sister. I altered this little plastic bucket by adding the cute plaid ribbon, lace and flowers.

The plaid ribbon was wired but I removed the wire so that I could make pleats in the ribbon. I added the lace with pearl beads around the top and then added the silk roses to the handles. I filled it up with lots of goodies!!

The blue flower is one that I made with nylon material and black tulle. The pink flower is from Prima. I also made the little dress form and the clothes pins. I included a little stamp set, a bottle of stickles, some flower die cuts, lace, trims, a little card and envelope pack and candy! I hope my Secret Sister liked everything. I know she received the basket, just haven't heard if she liked it.

So I am now caught up with all my swaps and am starting to work on some prizes for a travel crop that will be held in May. I am also in a craft fair in May and need to get stuff made for it, too.

I did a tutorial for the shaving cream technique and will share that with y'all tomorrow!! So until then...

Easter Blog Hop Day Two!!

Welcome to day two of the Easter Blog Hop!! If you arrived here from Mary Ellen's blog you are in the right place. If you just happend to "HOP" in please start at the beginning with our hostess, Robin at http://scrapandchat.blogspot.com/
I created this altered egg carton for a swap that I was in on a Facebook group called Crafty Swaps & Challenges.

I used a cardboard egg carton and painted it with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White. I love that paint!! I bought a quart and have used it to paint a ton of items and still have lots left!! Next, I glued a really pretty lace around the top edge. The I started adding layers of embellishments to the top.

You can't really see it that well, but the first thing I glued to the top is a little burlap ribbon tag. It's peaking out there under the butterfly. I made the little bird nest out of rolled strips of burlap and the eggs are little pearl beads that I colored with a blue marker. The purple flower is one of the loopy felt flowers that was made with white felt and I sprayed it with purple spray.

The little blue flowers came in a little pack in Michael's scrapbooking section and the little white ones are from a flower bunch in the floral section. I love using little flowers off of larger bunches. The Dollar Tree also has some really cute flower bunches that can be taken apart and used on cards or altered items.

The butterfly is from a K&Co die cut pack. The little pink flower under the butterfly is another one found in the scrapbooking section at Michael's.
I had so much fun altering this egg carton! I filled it with all kinds of goodies, but dummy me didn't take pics of that, lol.

I hope y'all have a very Happy Easter!! I am cooking for my sweet family and then maybe getting some other crafty things done later today.

Easter Blog Hop is Here!!!

Here comes Peter Cottontail, hopping down the bunny trail.....
Welcome to the Easter Blog Hop where we have come together to share some spectacular Easter inspiration with you. If you arrived here from Mary Ellen's blog you are in the right place. If you just happend to "HOP" in please start at the beginning with our hostess, Robin at http://scrapandchat.blogspot.com/

I created this sweet little Easter card using the shaving cream technique.

The card base is Bashful Blue SU! cardstock with layers of an old SU! designer series paper mounted on Elegant Eggplant. The strip across the bottom is a piece that I used the shaving cream technique as well as the butterfly. The flower is made with coffee filters die cut with a scallop Spellbinders die, then I added 3 colored buttons layered on top of one another and tied with a piece of white organza ribbon.

Here is a closeup of the butterfly. I embossed it using a light purple embossing powder and then used a marker to color just the tips of the wings. The sentiment is from one of the little $1 clear stamp sets that I got at Michael's. It is stamped in Elegant Eggplant and then punched out with the large tag punch and then curled up the edges using a bone folder. The edges of each layer of cardstock were distressed and inked. The final touch is a piece of frilly lace adhered to the bottom of the card.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!! Now you are off and hopping to Carolyn's blog:

Creating Cute Digital Layouts

It's raining here this weekend. This kind of weather makes me sleepy, but I did manage to play around on My Digital Studio to create some cute scrapbook page layouts. I love this one as the main subject is of my sweet Elizabeth :) She is growing up so fast. I can't believe she is 18 months old already! Sometimes I can't believe that my sweet Amber has a baby! And my other sweet daughter Mariah is pregnant with her first baby, a sweet boy named Grayson. She doesn't have much longer to go now. I will be "Lollie" to a sweet girl and boy!! I want to just hold on to every precious second and not let any of it slip through my fingers!! They grow up too fast.

I have been busy this week finishing up my Secret Sister Easter Basket swap and also an Altered Egg Carton swap. These were both so much fun to work on, but definitely out of my element. I can't wait to share them with y'all, but have to wait until the recipients have received them.

Next Saturday I will be participating in a blog hop. It will be so much fun!! More details to come on that soon. For now, I better get back to the art house to work on a few things. Until next time...

My Sweet Mom's Birthday Card

Yesterday was my sweet Mom's birthday and this is the card I made for her.

All papers are from a K&Co paper pack. I did some stitching to some of the pieces and all edges are distressed and inked. The flower is several of the papers die cut with different Spellbinders. Between each flower layer, I glued some chipboard "shims" to add dimension. I added the blue bling to the center of the flower and some pearls on string behind the flower. The Happy Birthday is a Stampin' Up! sentiment that is stamped in Tea Dye Distress Ink and then punched using a Stampin' Up! curly label punch. I am happy to report that Mom really loved her card and all her little gifts!

I have been out of the crafty mode for a bit. I was sick and missed work for a whole week and then last week I was out of town for a Special Olympics Tennis tournament with Dakota. He won gold!! and we got to walk on the beach several times. While we were in Hilton Head, I took him to a seafood restaurant and he had lobster for the very first time.

He looks like a pretty happy kid there, doesn't he? He said he likes lobster but it's a lot of hard work! I am finally getting back into the swing of things and am getting some swaps finished up. Then it's on to making gifts for birthdays and creating some items for a crop coming up. I will share all these projects with y'all as soon as I can.

It's getting late, so I am going to hit the hay! Until next time..

Secret Sister Journal Book

I gave you a sneak peak of this journal book last week and I can finally share the entire project with y'all! My secret sister received it and whew! She loved it! I am so relieved :) I used all K&Co papers for the book, except for the kraft journal pages, they are from Stampin' Up! For the cover, I applied some modeling paste using a polka dot stencil. When it was dry, I rubbed a distress ink pad all over the page and then using a swirl stencil, I sprayed some turqouise ink on the page. The smaller creamy flowers are from K&Co and the larger flower on the bottom is one of my clothing pattern flowers with a K&Co flower on top. There is a piece of burlap ribbon under the flowers, along with some beaded trim and a piece of cording. There is a little heart and a bumbke bee tucked in with the flowers that my friend Kristie made using UTEE poured into molds. Love how she makes those!! The number 3 is a house number that I got from Michael's on clearance. I painted it and used crackle paint on it and really distressed it and I love how it turned out!! Not sure I can replicate that treatment again, lol. The butterfly is from a K&Co pack, too.

The journal letters are old Scrabble tiles. I have really used a lot of those! Wish I could find more. Below are the pictures of the rest of the pages in the book.

I used my Bind It All to put the book together. It was so much fun making this! I think I'll make myself one of these little journals :)

Some of the things I am working on this month and will share as soon as I can. The swaps I'm in are Magnets for a group swap, an Easter basket for a secret sister swap and an altered egg carton for a partner swap. These are going to be so much fun to work on!! I also have in the works some altered aprons, some greeting  cards and I just purchased a Maya Road canvas messenger bag that I will alter. What are some things y'all are working on? I would love to see!

Some of these things have to wait a couple of days, because I have the yucky sinusitus and bronchitis! Hopefully the meds will kick in and start working so I will feel well enough to get out to the art house soon!

That's all from me for today. Until next time...

Texture on Canvas Tutorial

Someone asked me how I get the texture on my canvases, so I thought I would do a tutorial. It is super easy!!

I have not finished this canvas piece yet because I am looking for the perfect frame to add to it. I will share it as soon as it's done!

Mariah's baby shower is today, so I better go get ready for it!

Until next time...
