Special Weekly Challenge

I hope you all had a very Happy Thanksgiving!! Mine was great! Had an awesome time with my family and great food :)

This card was made for the Scrapbook Friends & More Crafts' weekly challenge, but it was not an ordinary challenge. We were to make a birthday card for the special little niece of one of our members. The specifics were to use the color purple and stickles and the name Kiara and the number 10 had to be on the card. Well, I screwed up and did not put the number 10 on my card!! I'm not eligible to win anyway, because I am an administrator of the group. One thing my card does have is purple!! The card base is Orchid Opulence and all other papers are from a K&Company paper stack.

The flower is made with a Spell Binders scallop die cut and then each "petal" was snipped. There are 5 layers in this flower and between each layer is a small piece of white tulle. Under the flower is a very sparkly butterfly that is actually a Christmas ornament that I got a the Dollar Tree in a pack of six. I took it apart to leave only the wings. The butterfly antennae are made from bead trim. The ribbon is Lilac scrunched seam binding tied in a double bow.

I also decorated the inside with a little cutout butterfly with stickles added to it. I really hope that Kiara likes it and all the cards that were sent to her :)

I finally finished the 15 Christmas cards for this month's swap, also for the Scrapbook Friends group. I will share that after everyone receives theirs, which will be a couple of weeks. I still have to finish my Secret Santa gift. I'll share that, too very soon.

That's all from me tonight. I hope you all have a great week. Until next time..
Hugs and Happy Craftin'!!

Sheet Music Christmas Ornament

Good Saturday morning!! I hope y'all are having a great weekend so far. I have been really busy working on swaps, a Secret Santa project, Christmas gifts and decorations and challenges. Last week I was in a craft fair and that took a lot of work, but was so much fun. I sold a few things and lots of people asked for my contact info. I even made a new friend or two :)
I made this ornament as an experiment and really love how it turned out! I Mod Podged torn pieces from an old hymnal onto a glass ornament. Before it was completely dry, I added irridescent ice embossing powder and heated it to set. Then I rubbed a Copic marker all over the ornament to give it an aged look. I added a piece of sparkly garnet ribbon to the top and a piece of dark brown ribbon for the hanger.
I have lots of ideas for more ornaments and will be working on those this weekend. I will share those very soon!
I am having a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that Thanksgiving is only 5 days away! Can you believe it? And Christmas will be here before you know it, too. I better get in gear making all of the projects that I have floating around in my head, lol.
That's all from me today. We are off to see a movie this afternoon and then tonight I have a wreath to make. Have a happy and safe weekend!!
Until next time...
Hugs and Happy Craftin'!!

Ugly Challenge

No, I was not challenged to see how ugly I could be! I was challenged to make something pretty using some pretty ugly and random items. This was a challenge in the Facebook group Scrapbook Friends & More Crafts that I am an admin of. I love this group of crazy talented women (and men)!! We each received an envelope full of strange, random objects that you don't normally associate with scrapbooking or card making. We even had to use the envelope that it all came in! I made a pocket page using the envelope as the base.

On the front, I Mod Podged the rooster napkin to the envelope. The green flower is made from a strip of green and white polka dot fabric. The flower next to it is a chipboard piece that was painted red a and the center is made from a piece of foam weatherstripping.

This picture shows the inside tag piece that fits inside the envelope.

Some of the random things that were in my envelope were a straw, a coffee stirrer, tin foil, clothes pin, fabric, printed seam binding and foam weather stripping (black sponge in the pic above). I had to really think outside the box on some of these things, like the straw and coffee stirrer. I cut them in strips and then used a bonefolder to curl them up to make the swirls behind the flowers.
This was a fun challenge, but I don't think I want to ever do another one like it, lol. It was not easy figuring out how to put it all together. I used lots of paint and ink distressing to try and make it all work.

I have got to go through my pictures and post some projects that I completely forgot about. I will be working on that in the next day or so.

I can't believe how time flies. Thanksgiving is next week! and we only have 40 days until Christmas!! Yikes, I need to get myself in gear and get some gifts made :)

That's going to be all from me tonight. Until next time.....
Hugs and Happy Craftin'!!

Christmas Spendor Blog Hop!!

Welcome to my part of the Christmas Splendor Blog Hop hosted by Angela Holt Designs! Each of us on the hop were sent a package of Good Tidings Bling from Want2Scrap to use in a project (or two, or three!)
If you began here you will need to start at the beginning of the blog hop by visiting Angela's Blog first. Follow this link to begin the hop: Angela Holt Designs
The first thing I made with the awesome bling was this sparkly Christmas ornament.

On the inside, I used spray adhesive and then inserted Buffalo Snow Flakes (purchased at Walmart) inside the ornament. For the outside, I added the smallest snow flake from the bling packet and also some sparkly, ruffled ribbon. This ornament is really shiny!!

Next, I made a Christmas card using the tree bling piece.

The card base is Stampin' Up! Certainly Celery stamped with the Canvas BG stamp in Tim Holtz Antique Linen Distress Ink. The designer papers are also from Stampin' Up! The flower paper was run through the Big Shot using the Divine Swirls embossing folder and then I swiped the Tim Holtz ink pad over the entire piece. The Want2Scrap tree bling was added to the DP by Stampin' Up! and the edges were inked. The bow is made with SU! Early Espresso Scalloped Tulle Ribbon. The sentiment is stamped in Red Stazon on a piece of an old tag that I had left over and the edges are inked and then I made it wavy using  a bone folder.

The last project is a tag Christmas ornament or it can be used on a pretty package.

The base is a distressed tag that I have had a long time. The little snowman is a gift tag that is mounted on a scrap piece of red DP. The blue DP was also a scrap that I had left over from another project. I ran it through the Big Shot with an embossing folder and ink distressed it as well. The flower is made from pages from an old hymnal that were cut out using a Spellbinders scallop die cut. There are layers of  Crumb Cake Tulle Ribbon between the layers of book pages, a piece of red gingham DP and a sparkly green foam ball that I cut in half before gluing to the center of the flower. The Want2Scrap Holly bling is in the top left corner. I colored over the bling using a Copic marker to sort of tone the brightness down. The sentiment is stamped in Red Stazon on a piece of the same tag as the base and ink distressed the edges. I made the sentiment tag wavy using a bone folder.

I hope y'all enjoyed my part of the blog hop!! Thanks for stopping by and I hope I inspired you to create something with some bling!!
