Using What You've Got

I love looking at other blogs and seeing the awesome creations that other crafters are making. One thing I have seen a lot of lately are flowers and other embellishments made from vintage sewing patterns. Well, I don't have any, but I love the look of them. So, what do I have that would have about the same look and feel. Hmmmmmm. Looking around the art building...... AhhhHaa! Coffee filters! So, I took two coffee filters and first stamped them with a french script stamp in Really Rust ink and then swiped them with a Creamy Caramel ink pad. Then I cut out several pieces with a Spellbinders scallop circle die cut. They were stacked on top of each other and then mounted them on top of another scallop circle cut out of a piece of designer paper. The center is a button die cut and a button tied together with baker's twine. The card base is Very Vanilla with a Creamy Caramel ink pad rubbed on the edges. Then layers of patterned papers and a rooster stamped in the bottom right hand corner. There is also a piece of lace and then I sewed all around it twice with my sewing machine. The finishing touch is a double tied ribbon bow that is distressed with ink and heated with the heat gun to crinkle it.

This one is going up in the Etsy shop :) I will definitely be making more of these coffee filter flowers. I am going to try to find some vintage sewing patterns to try and make some flowers out of those, too, though. I am always trying to find new materials to create embellishments with, especially flowers :) What is your favorite material to make flowers and other embellishments with? Please share!!!

Well, that's all for me tonight. Until next time....
Hugs and Happy Craftin'!!
