What I've been working on...

This used to be a cigar box. Now, it is a pretty shadow box! I love how it turned out! I bought a bunch of these at the cigar store, most for about $2 to $3 each, and they gave me a few, too. I have a few ideas for altering these, just need to find the time to work on them. For this one, first I painted it a light blue and added a coat of Mod Podge to seal it. Then I covered the outside with the blue and orange flower paper from Crate Paper's Brunch Collection. For the inside, I started with a designer paper from Foof-a-La called Fall Bouquet. Next is a layer of Certainly Celery along with designer paper from Foof-a-La called Golden Tones and then the sentiment piece, that is actually a sticker from Bo Bunny's Friend cardstock sticker pack. This piece is raised with thick pop dots. The flower is SU! From the Garden and is stamped three times, colored with water color pencils and a blender pen. Then each one is cut out and attached with thick pop dots. For each of the flower layers, I omitted a portion to give it more depth.

Thanks for checking in on me today! Until next time, Hugs and Happy Stampin'!

The Sweetest Thing

I so love being a mom to my three beautiful kids! I caught the scrapbooking bug about 11 years ago. I have always been a "crafty" person and when I was invited to a crop, I was intriqued and a little intimidated. But, I loved the idea of capturing these great moments of my kids. I have been perpectually behind since I started, but I really enjoy it! When I was introduced to stamping almost 3 years ago, I thought how wonderful to buy alphabet stamps to incorporate into my scrapbook pages instead of constantly buying stickers and never having enough of one letter. Well, when I started making cards, it was such instant gratification that I literally put my scrapbooks on the back burner. Recently, I caught the scrapbook bug again!!

This page is of my daughter Mariah. She hates this picture, but I think it's beautiful! The dp is Karen Foster Design called Orange Twist that I got from my LSS. I mounted the picture on Whisper White, River Rock and Tempting Turquoise. On the Tempting Turquoise piece, I stamped swirls and swiped the Craft White ink pad on the edges. The journaling is on Barely Banana mounted on Whisper White. I added rub-ons from SU! Eastern Elegance in black and white. The tag is from K&Company's Blue Awning Tag Pad, with another rub-on and a Prima Flower with an Ice Brad.

I have finished a couple more pages and will share those with you soon!

Until next time, Hugs and Happy Stampin'!

TECC23

Yes, I am over a week behind on this sketch challenge, but I finally finished it! I started it before I hurt my back, but at least I finished it! Last week was crazy, with my back pain, my friend having her surgery and then I found out that one of my downlines had some tragic news in her family. Then Thursday, we had family in from out of town through the weekend for a reunion and that was very stressfull with all the kids running around. But, I survived it all!!! lol. Hopefully I can get some good stamping time in this week. I'm crossing my fingers!

So anyway, on to the card!! I also used the SCS Color Challenge for last week, Wild Wasabi, Certainly Celery and Purely Pomegranite. The card base is Wild Wasabi, the next layer in Purely Pomegranite with a piece of green gingham ribbon tied around it. The polka dot paper is SU Prints Sampler from last year. The image is from Inkadinkadoo and is stamped on Whisper White with Chocolate Chip. I colored the animal (not sure what it is, but isn't he cute?!), with SU! markers. I added the googlie eyes and stickles to the cupcake top. Last, but not least, I added the white heart shaped eyelets. You can find the sketch here.

Well, it's late, so I'm heading off to bed. Until next time, Hugs and Happy Stampin'!

I am sad today...

I found out earlier today, that my best friend since the 5th grade has breast cancer and will be having a double mastectomy on Tuesday. I did not know what to say to her. Well, nothing I could say would make this better. She has a 5 year old son who is her world and I know that she is so scared. I am scared for her. I have no idea how I would handle this if it happened to me. She sounded so strong on the phone. I don't think that I would be so strong. She seems really optimistic so that's how I will have to be, too. Please say a prayer for Janice that she comes through surgery okay and that the doctors get all of the cancer.

While I was browsing my email, I got an email from the girl that used to my second level upline, Jami. Now, until today, I have never really been close to someone with breast cancer, and what do you think Jami's email was about? (this gives me goosebumps). She is selling most of her stamp stuff to raise money to walk in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. Just how timely is this? I think that I am just going to send a donation instead of buying anything. It's just so strange that I got the email after I found out about Janice. I can't help to think that if I got the email at any other time, would I have paid as much attention to it? I was sitting here thinking about what could I do to maybe make a difference and then I got that email. So, I will start making a small difference by making a donation to Jami's Avon Walk. That is the least I can do in honor of my bestest friend.

If you would like to make a donation, here is the link to Jami's Avon Walk site. If you can't make a donation (Iknow finances are tight for everyone right now), please say a prayer for Janice and one for Jami on her walk, too! Thanks and as Jami says, "Big PINK Hugs"!
