This was kind of ugly before I covered it with this beautiful paper!!! My electric company (Mid-Carolina Coop here in Lexington, SC) mailed every member this container with two of the energy efficient light bulbs. (My parents got three because they have different accounts for their greenhouse business besides their house, so I got their's, too.) Looking at it closer, I noticed that it is a bank. It is so cute! It is roughly 6 inches tall and about 5 inches wide and is oval in shape. You may recall, several posts back, the "shoe money" bank that I made out of a Crystal Light container? Well, these are even better! I made another one that has golf stuff on it and I'll show you that one when it is competely finished. The paper is from my LSS and I can't for the life of me remember the company that made it. The little chipboard flowers are from K & Company. The green ribbon is SU! and the pink ribbon is from Sweet Petites. The paper on the top is Pretty in Pink. The big K & Company flower has a slit cut out of it for the coin hole. This was so much fun to make! I am going to try to sell these at an upcoming craft fair, so wish me luck!!!
Until next time, Hugs and Happy Stampin'!

Life's been nuts!!

Since my last post, things have been so crazy around here. Mariah went to the prom on May 3 and at After the Prom (at Frankie's Fun Park), had an asthma attack and ended up in the emergency room! Bet she'll never forget her Junior Prom, lol! That Sunday morning, we drove to Mars Hill and moved Amber's stuff home. I did not really have a weekend that week. Amber had exams on that Monday and drove home that night, so I was a nervous wreck the whole day. That Tuesday, I chaperoned Dakota's class trip to Riverbanks Zoo. We have the best zoo! I have been trying to get things ready for an upcoming craft fair, too. So life has just been crazy nuts here! Here is a picture of Mariah in her prom dress. She was so beautiful, and no, I am not biased!

Weekend Sketch Challenge #45

Well, that's last weekend's sketch challenge! Yes, I know, I'm behind again. Actually I did make these two cards earlier in the week, but there's been a teenager on the computer and I haven't felt like kicking her off and listening to the teenage whine. This sketch challenge can be found here. So anyway, on to the cards!
The first one is also for Kwerner's Color Inspiration Challenge #6 and you can find that here. The colors we were to use are Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron, Sahara Sand and Wild Wasabi. My card base is Pumpkin Pie. The Sahara Sand piece was embossed with the CB Swiss Dots folder. The main image is Bud Basics stamped on So Saffron in Pumkin Pie and Wild Wasabi and mounted on Pumkin Pie. The strip is So Saffron and the ribbon is SU! striped grossgrain in Wild Wasabi with two pieces of "generic" orange and light yellow ribbon tied onto it. I finished it off by stamping the sentiment (don't know what stamp set) onto Wild Wasabi and punched out with the Word Window.
For the second card I used scrap papers left over from the Leland name frame. The card base is Certainly Celery with a layer of Brocade Blue and DP from Crate Paper. The flower is from Office Accoutrement stamped on Very Vanilla in Really Rust with the center punched out of the same DP (just the other side) with the Three Flower Punch. The flower is mounted with dimensionals onto a piece of Very Vanilla that was embossed with CB Swiss Dots and mounted on Brocade Blue. The setiment is from Lots of Thoughts (SAB 2008) that I just colored the Many Thanks with a Chocolate Chip marker and punched out with the Round Tab punch. The cording is from a pack that I bought for jewelry making, but I think it works better on cards concidering how much jewelry making I've been doing lately.
Thanks for checking in on me today! Until next time, Hugs and Happy Stampin'!~Lorrie
