I haven't stamped.....

lately because I have been sick. :( I finally went to the doctor yesterday and I have a sinus infection. It hurts so bad to swallow that I was afraid that I had strep throat. I am taking the biggest dang pills you can imagine! I mean these suckers are GINORMOUS! I love that word! Can't quite believe that it made it into the Webster's Dictionary this year, but hey, what the heck! Anywho, I am hoping to get to stamp some this weekend, after I catch up on laundry and housework that got neglected all week. I also want to share the ATC's from the swap I was in. They are all so good! I will take pics and post as soon as possible.
Ya'll have a great weekend! ~Lorrie

7 random things about me...

Kimberly tagged me again and this time I'm supposed to share 7 things about me.

1. My legal name is Rosetta Lorene, my nickname is Lorrie (my Mom had to be different!)
2. I HAVE to sleep with a fan, not neccesarily blowing on me, just need the noise. But I can't sleep with any kind of light on.
3. I was in the South Carolina State Honor Choir my senior year of high school. Now I only sing in the shower and the car.
4. I have worked (with my Mom) for the same attorney for almost 10 years. (Mom has been his secretary for 30 years) Before that, I worked at Hardee's (fast food) for almost 13 years.
5. I have 3 cats (Tabby, Runt and Todd), 1 dog (Milo) and a snail, named Gary (like from Spongebob Squarepants). I bought a small aquarium with 2 African Dwarf frogs and a snail for Dakota's Christmas present and the frogs died in less than a week, but the snail still lives!
6. I have been divorced for 5 years and met my boyfriend, Dan, shortly after. We've been happily UNmarried ever since.
7. I love quotes... one of my favorites is by Judy Garland... "Always be a first rate version of yourself, rather than a second rate version of someone else."

Now I'm supposed to tag 7 others to play along. Oh my gracious, this is hard!... Ok, here goes....

Lisa - a prima chatterina's stampfessions
Kathy - KathysKreations

A. Sanborn - Paper-inkpressions

I would like to thank my parents and my children and my agent.. Oh, I guess I was getting a little carried away. Anyway, I feel so giddy! Almost as giddy as when Beate herself commented on one of my cards! I was dancing around for days. Seriously, I thought Dan was going to have me committed! I swear men just don't get it! Ok, now I'm supposed to rock someone else's world. Where to start, there's so many great blogs that I read everyday. Let's see... how about...

Blossom Abound and.....

the winner of the blog candy is.....

Pattyjo said...
I think your blog candy is awesome and I will appreciate it very much if I win. I just want to tell you Thank you for the "chance" at it. Your very generous!

Congratulations to Pattyjo! Please email me with your address and I will get it out asap!

Thanks so much to all the wonderful comments! I got the band aid tin from Oriental Trading and they were pretty cheap! I haven't been able to
find them in stores either, but ran across them online and ordered a bunch.

Now about the card. The main image was originally stamped to go into a clear checkbook cover but it was too bulky for it, so I cut it down and made this card instead. I stamped the flower and leaves from Blossoms Abound in Lavender Lace, Perfect Plum and Old Olive and stamped the sentiment from Small Script. I "stitched" around the main image with a Chocolate Chip marker and mounted on Old Olive that I swiped around the edges with an Old Olive ink pad and added white organdy ribbon. The card base is Lavender Lace.

This weekend was really busy. I went to Mars Hill College again with Amber for her to take placement tests and sign up for classes. We got to peak in at the dorm room and made a mental list of the stuff she will need. She will have a room mate so they need to get together and compromise on some things. I am getting really nervous. She goes in the middle of August and there is so much to do! She still doesn't have her driver's license! I have to get her car serviced and buy storage stuff and the list just goes on and on! I know this will be a great opportunity for her, but I'm still nervous. Short of moving up there, I guess I will just have to get a new family cell phone plan so I can atleast talk to her at night. Amber has always called me to tell me goodnight when she is away and I hope that won't change. Her boyfriend will be there in the dorm right next to hers, so that makes me feel better. I know she will do good in school and make friends, I'm just worried about her getting a job and driving through the mountains. I hope she can find a job close to the school so she won't have to drive too far. I'm not going to stress out too much and just get her settled in and see what happens.

Well, ya'll have a great Monday and see ya soon!! ~ Lorrie

Who wants some candy?!

Plus my camera battery is still not holding a very long charge. But, today I finally got everything together and here it is! This package consists of a band aid tin, a clear checkbook cover, a large prima, some retired SU! ribbon, two silky heart stickers, some black "stones", a little bling and some card "confetti" left over from my openhouse. All you have to do to win it is tell me how badly you want it! Post your message between now and Sunday at 6:00 p.m. (eastern standard time). I will get Dakota to pick a number Sunday evening and post the winner. Good luck ya'll! Thanks to all my wonderful readers!! ~ Lorrie

I'm still breathing!

Paint fumes that is! I have been painting Dakota's room and I'm still not done. I started Friday by cleaning and moving things and then yesterday I started painting. I had to do 2 coats of primer and boy does that stuff stink, had my whole house smelly! Last night I actually started getting some color on the walls. I picked out a very nice blue called "Windjammer" and it looks great! The room was sponged in yellow and orange and was not very boyish, hence the 2 coats of primer. It's what Mariah wanted in there 5 years ago when she and Dakota shared the room. She was 11 and he was 2 and she wanted to share the room with him! She and Amber were having some "issues" at that time being sisters that are 2 years apart. Boy were they fighting with each other back then! I do not miss those days. Now it's Mariah and Dakota that fight but atleast they have separate rooms now! Anyway, I have one more coat of the blue to put on today. My hands are sore, my back is sore and my head is really sore! and I still have paint all over me even after a shower, but it's all good. My little boy won't be sleeping in a yellow and orange room tonight! I've always heard that if you paint your bedroom a red, pink or orange that you don't sleep as well. That might explain why the kid comes in my room and sleeps on the floor almost everynight! Hopefully he will sleep through the night in his own bed and tomorrow I will get some stamp time in!!! Woohoo! I will be posting some blog candy this week! I was going to do that today, but my camera battery is dead again and is charging. It's not holding a charge very long. My camera using a lithium battery and I know they are kind of expensive, but I guess I will have to break down and buy a new one soon. Hope ya'll have a terrific Sunday and I will see ya'll again very soon, I promise!

This started out as...

an ugly cigar box. No, really it did! I have had this box for almost 2 years and knew I wanted to cover it, I just never really had the time to sit down and figure out what I wanted to do. This past Sunday, I got the chance to play! I had bought two packs of Collage Papers by Paper Reflections a couple of months ago, so I used those. One set was Asian Elements and the other was Vintage Toile. I mixed elements from both for a different look. I stamped different SU! images on some of the papers and "distressed" the papers with a Close to Cocoa ink pad. I layered papers on top of each other, adhered and sealed with Mod Podge. I added the beaded handle that is actually a bracelet that I got at the Dollar Tree. I am trying to figure out how to add a clasp and am experimenting with a couple of different ideas. The only thing wrong with it is if you use it as a purse, the top is upside down. bummer. I didn't realize it until I put the handle on it! Other than that, I really like how it turned out. I plan on using it as a purse sometimes. Don't really know how I will pull that off considering my wallet is almost as big as the box!

Thanks for stopping by today. See ya'll later! Lorrie

Sympathy for a friend

A friend of mine lost her Grandmother a couple of weeks ago and this is the card that I sent her. I have had this image from Long Time Friend sitting on my desk for a long time and just never finished putting it together, so when I needed the sympathy card for my friend, I thought this image would be perfect. I mounted the image on Sage Shadow and Almost Amethyst and added the sentiment and it was done!!! I really love how it turned out!
I still have to gather some stuff for blog candy, so keep your eyes peeled for that. Thanks for stopping by today! Lorrie

Zoofari, Love it!

I just absolutely fell in LOVE with the Zoofari set in the new catalog! It was the only stamp set I bought for the preorder (I was low on cash! boohoo) and this is the card I designed for my ALOHA party on Sunday. I had a pretty good turnout, 5 people came, which is more than usually comes! and they all purchased atleast one retired stamp set and they all placed an order from the new catty! I was and still am very happy! I sold enough to get the hostess benefits for myself! I am ordering a few things, but especially the new scalloped punch. I squealed when I saw it in the catalog! Good thing I was by myself, I would've scared the crud out anyone else in the house! Well, back to the card.... I used the NEW Wild Wasabi cs for the card base stamped in the same with Canvas BG. Each of the animals is stamped on Whisper White, colored and punched out with the square punch. I added each to a piece of NEW Purely Pomagranete, added doodles and adhered to main card base. I stamped the sentiment from So Very in Basic Black and Purely Pomagranete. And there you have it! Everyone's turned out great and they even changed some things up a bit! I love it when my customers interpret things a little differently and make it their own. That to me is what stamping, or crafting in general, is all about. Taking an idea one step further.

I hope you all have a wonderful July 4th! and I will see ya'll very soon! Lorrie
