Isn't this the greatest Grandpa ever??!!!! (Summer, 2006)
*I could not for the life of me to get this to set up in order, so scroll
down and read story to understand what this is all about! :)

What a week!

Here it is Wednesday and I haven't been able to stamp at all since like Friday! I tried to stamp a little the other night, but could not finish the project I'm working on, so maybe I will be able to share that with ya'll this weekend.

Let me tell you what has sucked up all my stampin' time this week. Last summer we bought one of those big blow up Banzai Waterslides from Walmart and we pulled it out to set it up. I knew I was going to have to patch some places but GOOD GRIEF!!!! That thing had more holes in it than I could keep up with! The spot in the yard we had it in last year is really sunny all day and I guess the sun faded it so bad that it broke the fibers down too thin to be able to hold air. I even tried the "red neck" thang and used Duct Tape, but it didn't work!!!! It would not stick to the vinyl. I went through 3 tubes of patch glue and about 6 HUGE patches, but nothing worked. SOOOOOO, off to Wallyworld I went. Hours of hard labor (including patch time) and $300 buckaroos later, the kids were on that thing and having a ball! I think I already got my money's worth just hearing the laughter. Last year, Dakota begged my Dad to get on it with him, and so he did! Here are a few pictures of all the fun.

K&Company ROCKS!!

So I was in my LSS to find some soft pastel papers to make a name frame for a baby shower, but I found these instead! Brenda Walton's Chipboard Letters from K&Company, and look at the cute box they came in! There are letters and cute little dresses and accessories already decorated with designer papers and embellished with glitter and rhinestones! Just the cutest things I have ever seen!

And this is the name frame I made for baby Victoria Grace. I really like how it turned out. The only thing stamped is the background, though, but I did use border stickers from SU's Simply Scrappin' Kit Friends and Flowers. I was going to use some background papers that I found that are in a paper pack from K&Company also, but with the letters, it looked too busy. I love the little dresses that came in the letter pack, they are just adorable. Now I have to pack this up and send to Jacksonville for the baby shower. I really wanted to be there, but I am going in July and can't afford to make the trip twice in a month. Baby Victoria is due June 30 and I really hope they have her before I get there for July 4th! Well, thanks for stopping by today! Have a great weekend! Lorrie

Doodles, doodles, and more doodles!

I must love doodles, because it seems like lately I've been stuck on them. Lots of projects with the Doodle This and Doodle That stamp sets and now a card using the Double-Line Doodle set. I got this set FREE! at SU! Atlanta Regionals in March. For this card, I started by stamping the flowers, coloring them in and punch out with a circle punch and then cut them out. I layered the two flowers together and added a brad to the center. I stamped the flower stems on a piece of Very Vanilla cs and colored them in with markers and then added the flowers with pop dots. I layered this on a piece of Chocolate Chip cs and distressed edges. I added a piece of SU! white organdy ribbon tied in a bow then added small tag with the sentiment tied on with silver cording. The next layer is SU! Designer Series Rebecca paper, then Rose Red cs (distressed) and finally Chocolate Chip card base. I added doodles on the Rose Red layer and around the top sides of the main image piece. Hope ya'll have a fantabulous Tuesday! Lorrie

Swirly Doodles

I was cleaning up my stamp area and ran across this little "take out" box, so decided to finally do something with it. It is from the SU! Tiny Takeout Boxes and Tags in Confetti White. I wheeled the Swirl Style with Pixie Pink, then added the pink ribbon from Flirty Ribbon Originals (SU! Winter Mini) to form the handle. The box is folded up and held together with brads on each side. I stamped the flower from Doodle This, colored it in with markers, added Dazzling Diamonds, and adhered with pop dots. The tag is stamped with the sentiment from Cute Converse, swiped the edges with Pixie Pink and tied to the ribbon handle with silver cording. I'm not sure what I will use this for yet, but I'll come up with something!
Today has been kind of a lazy Sunday, but atleast I did stamp some. We watched the Desperate Housewives season finale, what craziness!!! I thought my life was nuts! Well, I'm off to bed, ya'll have a great Monday!

I am such a DORK!!!

I really am! I did not realize until late last night that in my SCS gallery, I posted the "purple butterflies" name frame twice! Like only 5 posts apart! I was going to delete the second one posted, but someone already commented on it! So, I tried to add a blurp about what a dork I am, but it didn't work! Soooo, that is why I am confessing it here. Not that I really have to confess it, because if you ever met me in person, you would probably figure out really quickly what a dork I really am! My daughter, Mariah, calls me a dork all the time! Sometimes the truth hurts, but in my case it's just how I am and always will be! It's part of what makes me, me! Well, I am off to create something! Maybe, work on a sketch challenge!!! Thanks for stopping! Lorrie

Doodle This again!

I can't seem to get enough of the flower in the Doodle This set! There are so many things you can do with it! I bought the K & Co. Brenda Walton Dollhouse Collection 6x6 pack of paper at my LSS last week and can't believe I haven't used it before now! I actually bought it to use on a name frame, but decided not to use it for that after all. It was lying on my table along with a scrap of Gable Green and Lavender Lace cs and BAM! It hit me! How pretty those colors look with that paper! So I chose the plaid page and built from there. The card base is Lavender Lace, then a layer of Gable Green that I distressed the edges and swiped with Green Galore. The layer of plaid is stamped with the Linen BG using YoYo Yellow ink and swiped the edges with the same. I stamped the Linen BG on a piece of Very Vanilla cs with YoYo Yellow then stamped the flower from Doodle This with Chocolate Chip. I used a Summer Sun marker to outline and then cut the flower out and added Dazzling Diamonds to the whole thing. The flower is mounted on a Green Gable circle and then a Lavender Lace scallop and I doodled on both pieces. The Thank You is stamped with Lavender Lace on Green Gable and punched out with SU!s big tag punch. (I did the "trick" to make it longer). I stapled a piece of SU! Apple Green ribbon with a piece of May Arts green gingham ribbon onto the tag and then adhered it to the card. I really like how it turned out! I love the colors together, so fresh and happy!

Thanks for stopping by today! Lorrie

SCS Featured Stamper!

I have never done an SCS challenge, but I finally decided to do one! What the heck was I waiting for?! This week's featured stamper is Candy Williams and I have always admired her gallery, so what better time to do a challenge? If you haven't seen her gallery yet, you must do so and hurry! It is chocked full of great stuff!!! This is the card I chose to CASE. I changed the cs color from orange to Cameo Coral, the background and the main image (although it looks a lot alike, it is from SU!'s hostess set Blooming with Happiness) and the sentiment. I also used the round scallop punch instead of the oval that she used. I did not have the Paisley BG she used so I improvised and first stamped Cameo Coral with Linen BG and then the paisley from Polka Dots and Paisley. I added a strip of brown May Arts ribbon across the bottom where I believe she used card stock. I don't really like how my doodle thing in the top left hand corner came out and I should have used a bolder sentiment, but overall I like the card. Now I will definitely have to do some more challenges! Maybe a color combo next! Can't wait to get home from work tonight and get to it! Ya'll have a great Tuesday and I'll see ya later! Lorrie

Happy Mother's Day!!!!

This is my Mom's Mother's Day card. I am having some what of a stamper's block lately, so this card took me forever! I think that I need to try one of the challenges on SCS to help me out of this rutt. Anyway, I started with a Chocolate Chip base and added the Green Galore layer, stamped with Linen BG in Gable Green and French Script in Pixie Pink. The flower is the Big Blossom stamped in Versamark and added Glassy Glaze to make it shiny. I had to cut the petals down so it would fit on the card. I added a prima to the center with a brad that I added Crystal Effects and Dazzling Diamonds to. I stamped the sentiment from All About U in Timber Brown Stazon. Finished it off by adding a piece of SU! White Organdy ribbon. I hope you all have a terrific Mother's Day!
See ya soon! Lorrie

I have a winner!!!!

Dakota picked #24! So congratulations goes to Anouk Martin! This is her post!

Anouk Martin said...
I would have to say that my favorite SU color green would have to be Certainly Celery. I use it all the time!! - Anouk, please shoot me an email with your address so I can send you that candy!!!

Seems like the majority of you absolutely LOVE Certainly Celery! I like that one, too, even though Green Galore is my favorite. One thing you all did agree on (which makes me happy!) is that you really liked the blog candy! Thanks a million for everyone's comments and for checking in on me everyday! It makes a girl feel loved!

My cousin, Stephanie is graduating from USC Saturday. I can't believe that child is 22 and graduating from college!! Seems like yesterday she was running around with one bottle of applejuice and one with milk, both hanging out of her mouth at the same time!!! lol! She was cute back then and now she is a beautiful young woman! Makes me feel so old! Anyways, ya'll have a great weekend and I'll try to share something with you Saturday night!

Thanks, Lorrie

Another name frame

I got another order for a name frame. They requested purple and butterflies, so this is what I came up with. I used Spunky Alphabet stamped in Lovely Lilac on Almost Amethyst cs, punched out each letter with the small tag punch and mounted on Lovely Lilac cs punched with large tag punch. Each tag has a silver eyelet at the top and I strung with some shimmery purple organdy ribbon from May Arts. The piece underneath the letters is stamped with the Blossoms and Bugs wheel and colored in with SU! markers and added Dazzling Diamonds to the flowers and bugs. The butterflies are from Natural Beauty stamped in black Stazon and colored with SU! markers and added Dazzling Diamonds as well. They are adhered with pop dots. The background is stamped with Linen in Almost Amethyst and Swirl Style wheel with Bashful Blue ink.

Boy, you guys really like blog candy!!! Thanks for all the comments, you are all very sweet! Hope you have a great Thursday and stay tuned for the winner!!! Lorrie

Simply Said Thanks

Dan had such wonderful nurses while in the ICU, but one was just absolutely an angel! She went over and beyond the call of duty. Her name is Eileen and we shared such funny stories with each other and she is just the sweetest! I made her this card as a thank you for being such a wonderful nurse and person. She really does love her job and it shows. Her husband is coming home for a 2 week R & R from Iraq and I really wanted to do something special for her as well as him for putting his life on the line everyday so that we can be free. I got them a gift certificate from Gilligan's Seafood Restaurant so that they can have a nice night out while he is home. I wish I could do more, but I think they will really enjoy that. The card base is Chocolate Chip, with a layer of Pixie Pink stamped with flowers from Simply Said from the Heart in Pink Passion ink. Main image and sentiment are from the same set and stamped with Timber Brown Stazon and colored with Sakura Glaze pens. The butterflies are from Just 'Cause I Like You stamped in Pixie Pink. I mounted these pieces on Pink Passion and added pink shear May Arts ribbon that I got from Bloomfields Dish Barn in North Carolina, when I went to Mars Hill. This is the first time I have used that ribbon and it is soooo pretty in real life! I can not wait to go back up there so I can stop again and really take my time there. There is way too much to see in the 45 minutes we were there.
I get to bring Dan home tomorrow!!! I am so happy he is so much better. To think 4 days ago he was still on a respirator and I didn't think he would be out of ICU by tomorrow! He will have to go to the doctor for a follow up and probably be on meds for a while, if not for the rest of his life, but we can deal with that. We are just so lucky and I thank God for his amazing Grace! I really believe in the power of prayer! Thanks to you all and have a great day! Lorrie
