Anniversary Card

Tomorrow is my Mom and Dad's 42nd wedding anniversary, so I made this card for them. I don't have any stamps or even sentiments for anniversaries, so I used Office Accoutrement for the date thingy, I thought that it worked for an anniversary. I started with Chocolate Chip card base and added a layer of Tempting Turquoise stamped with Linen BG. The top right corner of the card base is folded over and I added a copper brad to hold it down. The date "thingy" was stamped and layered on a piece of Chocolate Chip punched with the Office Punch. I stamped the paragraph part with Chocolate Chip and then stamped over that with French Script in Tempting Turquoise. I added the flower stamped in Tempting Turquoise, layered with other flowers punched out, added a copper brad in the center and adhered with pop dots. I added the gold cord to the side and just tied in a knot. I am giving Mom and Dad a gift certificate to Gilligan's Seafood Restaurant, which is their favorite place to eat out. They have the BEST She crab Soup and their hush puppies are to DIE for!!!! Wish I was going!!!! :)

Dan is now in a regular room, but he is still being monitored for respiratory because he has a touch of pneumonia, but he is awake and alert and sitting up and talking. I really hope to bring him home in a few days. He said the funniest thing last night. We have kind of a running joke around my house, Dakota used to say "You're not the boss of me" when we told him to pick up his toys, ect. Well, the other day when Dan was not cooperating with the nurses and he was kind of fiesty, I told him that he needed to listen to what they said and that it was a direct order because I was the boss of him. Yesterday, after the breathing tube came out, but he was still wearing an oxygen mask, one of the nurses asked him who I was and he said "she's the boss of me!". They just about died laughing! I've got him trained good, I tell ya!! Thanks again for all the comments and prayers, it really does mean a lot! Have a great Tuesday!

Dan is finally off the ventilator!!!! After 10 days, he is off that darn thing!!! It has been such a long road and we still have a ways to go, but we are very hopeful that he will be home soon. They are working on the thyroid issues, but he is doing great! Thanks to all of you for your thoughts and prayers, it means so much. I think it is totally amazing how we can reach out to "strangers" and how we become connected through the internet. Thanks to all my blogging friends, we are strangers no more!!! I see that I am close to 1,000 hits, so I need to get busy on getting some blog candy ready. I am working on a few things to show you, so be on the lookout for that. Desperate Housewives is on tonight, so not sure how much I will get done while watching, know what I mean? Well, I better go for now. Thanks again my wonderful blogging friends!!!! :)

Name Frame

I love to do name frames. I made this one for a friend of mine (actually she is my hair dresser). I made one similar to this for her several months ago for her shop. Well, she moved to a different shop and the girl she is working with wanted one, too. She wanted it to be red and black and kind of plain. WHAT????!!!!! Plain?!!! I have a really hard time doing plain. I love layers and color and accessories! So this was a challenge for me, but here it is. This is about as "plain" as I can do, lol! Anyway, I used the Letterpress Alphabet stamped on Whisper White cs with Basic Black ink and layered on Real Red and Basic Black cs. The background is Linen BG stamped on Whisper White with Real Red, then I swiped the cs with the Real Red ink pad. I usually find my frames at Walmart for about $3.00 - $5.00. I try to keep them in stock because one time when I was pressed for time, the Walmart near my house was out and I had to go to a different one. I hate having to drive all over town to find one thing. So now I try to keep a few on hand so I don't get stressed out.
Dan is still on the ventilator, but the doctors are hopeful that he will be off by Saturday. Then they will be able to assess everything else. His blood pressure is slightly elevated, but they say that is normal with everything going on. Thanks so much to you all for the thoughts and prayers. I do believe in the power of prayer. It has really helped me be strong this past week. Thanks again and I'll see ya'll soon! Lorrie

Good News

Today the doctors have determined that Dan has a Thyroid problem and are treating him with medicine. Up until this morning, they thought that he may have a hole in his heart, but the test they performed showed that his heart was great. They did a Thyroid test late yesterday and it showed that he has Hypothyroidism. It's not the best news, but it is very treatable and it explains a lot about how he has been acting and feeling lately. He is still on the breathing machine, but they are slowly weaning him off of the oxygen. I am sooooo relieved!! Thanks to you all for the thoughts and prayers, it really means a lot and I know that they helped! I don't know when he will be in a regular room or when he may come home, but I will keep you posted.

I did a little stamping last night. I had a name frame order to fill and will take pics and post later this week. It felt good to stamp, kinda took my mind off my worries for a little while. Dan has always been so encouraging in my stamping and I always ask his opinion about everything I stamp, so I kind of missed his input on the last couple of things I've done. Can't wait until I can get my best critic back home, lol!

Thanks again, see ya'll soon. Lorrie

I will be away....

from my blog for a short while. My boyfriend is in the hospital in ICU. The doctors are not real sure what is wrong, but are concerned it may be his heart. They are doing tests and will try a procedure on Monday. Depending on the procedure, he may be moved to a heart hospital in Columbia. I am very tired and don't have much energy, but wanted to let everyone know that I appreciate your reading my blog. Please pray that Dan will get better and I will be able to bring him home soon. Thank you all. Lorrie

Girly Crab

This is a TOTAL CASE of a card by Cami. Check out her blog (, I do almost everyday. I loved her card so much that I HAD to CASE it. I had to adjust some of the elements because I did not have some of the items she used. I also wanted to use Cameo Coral instead of the Real Red that she used. But it is pretty much the same. I started with Chocolate Chip card base and added a layer of Creamy Caramel. The Close to Cocoa layer is the starfish from Crab & Company stamped in Whisper White Craft ink. The Cameo Coral layer is the shrimp from Crab & Company stamped with Black Stazon and colored in with Real Red marker, added Dazzling Diamonds and colored the eyes in with white gel pen. The Tempting Turqouise layer is the dots from Polka Dots & Paisley stamped in Tempting Turqouise. The crab is stamped in Black Stazon and colored in with Cameo Coral. The background is lightly colored with SU! watercolor pencils and a blender pen. Crab image is punched out with a big circle punch and mounted on Tempting Turqouise punched with the big Marvy Uchida scallop punch. I added Creamy Caramel ribbon and blue "rick rack" from the Ribbon Originals from the SU! Winter Mini. Thanks Cami for such a great card!!!!!

I am so sorry about not posting in a few days, my boyfriend is in the hospital and I have not been able to do much of anything. He should be better in a few days and home, hopefully. I did stamp something earlier in the week, just have not been able to take pics and download. If I get a little free moment tonight, I will get it posted. It is actually a big fat CASE!!!! I saw it and had to do it, it was that good! lol, know what I mean??!!! So anyway, thanks so much to everyone who has signed up subscription to my little ole' blog here. It really means a lot and gives such motivation. I plan on giving away some blog candy when I get to 1,000 hits. So be on the lookout for that. Thanks again and have a terrific Friday!!!!!!

Square Card

This is a card that I started making at Atlanta Regional Convention. I did not like the front that we were supposed to do, so I did my own thing. Started with Confetti cardstock stamped with the Doodle This flower, colored with markers and watercolor crayons in Real Red, Old Olive, More Mustard and Tempting Turqouise. The inside is stamped according to how SU! designed it with "hello" stamped in Certainly Celery, Tempting Turqouise, Old Olive, Real Red and More Mustard. A notch was punched with the small circle punch and the Old Olive button was glued down. Card Base is More Mustard.

We're Back!!!

From Mars Hill College! It is sooooo beautiful up there and the campus is really nice. Everyone is so friendly and the town is just so cozy. Even though Amber and Jon are so shy (they did not talk much or ask many questions), I could tell how excited they are to be going to such a great college. Oh, by the way, Hey Brian!!! He has been working with Amber by email and phone to get her accepted. We met him yesterday and he is so nice. Thanks again, Brian! Now we just have to get the rest of her financial aid stuff together and she's set to go! I was hoping to share some pictures of the campus with you, but when we got to the hotel, I went to charge my camera battery and realized I did not pack my battery charger. I'm such a dork! lol. So, I bought some post cards, so that's what I am posting. Jon's Mom took some pictures of Amber and Jon on campus and will send them to me, so atleast I can do a scrapbook page.

Have a Happy Weekend!

This afternoon, I am going to Mars Hill, NC and won't be back until late Saturday night. My oldest daughter, Amber, has been accepted as a transfer student to Mars Hill College and tomorrow is visitor's day. I am so excited! She is such a smart girl and I am sooooo proud of her. I wasn't able to stamp last night, so I am sorry I don't have something to share with you today :(
I will get something ready to share on Sunday and maybe some pics of Mars Hill campus. I hear it is absolutely beautiful up there. Wish I had time to go to Biltmore House and Gardens while I'm up there, but maybe next time. Well, I better get to work and hope you all have a great weekend!!!!!!! Lorrie

Good Morning!

Nothing like bright, happy colors to wake you up! I made this little coaster book for Mariah. I thought she could put her friend's pictures in it and maybe even use it for their autographs. I covered the coasters with the SU! Designer Series "Sassy" paper, one side with flowers, the other side with stripes. The "friends" is from Love Matters (Winter Mini) is stamped with black Stazon and then colored in with markers. I added the little Only Orange scalloped border cut out with the Slit punch and then just layered it on Pink Passion and then Basic Black cardstock. I pierced
along the edges just for some added interest. I had originally made the "friends" part as an ATC for swaps but never finished them so I thought that this would be cute on here, the colors matched perfectly with the patterned paper! The inside is just Whisper White cardstock cut to the same size as the coasters and punched the corners and stamped the little flower from Doodle That and colored with markers. I put it all together with a little binder ring and tied pink, orange and green ribbon.

Birthday Crab

This little crab has a big fan club over on Splitcoast! I think there are more cards with this cute little guy than any other image. This card is a CASE from a lot of different cards from SCS. Mariah decided her friend would rather have a cutesy card for her BD rather than the other one I made, so I will give Alana the other one and Mariah can give her this one. The crab from Crab and Company is stamped with black Stazon and colored in with Cameo Coral and the "sand and sky" were colored in with SU! watercolor pencils and a blender pen. The present and candle are colored with SU! markers and I used pop dots to adhere them. The hat is cut out and glued on. I wanted to add squiggly eyes, but the ones I have are too big, bummer :( Anyway, I mounted the main image on Cameo Coral and added doodles, then mounted on Carribean Blue stamped with Cheescloth BG in the same color. I roughed up the edges with my SU! distresser. Stamped "snappy birthday" and the clam and star fish and colored in with Cameo Coral marker. The card base is Cameo Coral stamped in the same with Dotted BG.

Happy Monday!

Hope everyone had a terrific Easter! I really enjoyed my three day weekend, but wasn't too thrilled about going to work this am, but the kids had one more day off of school, so atleast I got to sleep until 7:30! I did get a lot of stamping in this weekend, so I was very happy about that. I started making this little band aid tin Friday and finally finished it yesterday. I got the tin from a few weeks ago. I bought the Tim Holtz Adorondak "Nature Walk" alcohol inks and the Blending Solution from AC Moore several weeks ago and finally got up the nerve to use them. Sometimes I see something on Splitcoast and just have to have it and then get nervous about using it. But I think it worked out pretty well. I covered the tin with the inks and let it dry (it dries pretty fast). I had the flower stamped and cut out already from another project but did not need it, so thought that it really went well with the colors of the tin. I colored the flower with my SU! watercolor crayons. I just got those, too and how I ever lived without them I will never know!!!! They are great! I tied SU! organdy ribbon around the handle. I stamped the Birthday Wishes sentiment from Circle of Friendship and made it into a tag and tied it around the handle with silver cording. I think I will use this little tin for a gift card holder for my daughter, Mariah's best friend's birthday. She will be so excited.

The card was inspired by the tin. I used the alcohol inks on SU! Glossy White cs and then stamped the images from Doodle This with black Stazon. Mounted that on a piece of Whisper White that was stamped with the swirly leaf portion of the small flower from Doodle That in Lavender Lace and Lovely Lilac. Wrapped a piece of SU! White Organdy ribbon and tied in a bow. Mounted that on Lavender Lace card base and stamped Happy Birthday from Warmest Regards.

Coaster Box

I have had these coasters for almost a month and couldn't decide what to do first. I have seen so many awesome things on Splitcoast, so last night I finally sat down and made this little box. Not bad for the first try, the only thing that made me crazy was putting it together! I could not for the life of me get the holes to line up, so they are a little off, but the ribbon kinda covers that up. First, I ran the Chocolate Chip ink pad along the edges of each coaster. Then, I coverd both sides of the coasters with the "Recollections" designer SU! paper using Mod Podge, one side with the flower design and the other with stripes. I punched holes in each coaster and tied them together with green organdy SU! ribbon. The bottom is tied together the same way. The "My Friend" sentiment is from Polka-Dot Posies stamped on Very Vanilla and double mounted on Cranberry Crisp and Chocolate Chip. I still think it needs something, but not sure what. I am always my own worst critic, so nothing ever looks finished to me. But then, I feel if I add something more, it will be too much, so best leave well enough alone, huh?
Last night, Dakota and I dyed Easter eggs. I almost bought the kind of dye that has sparkles, but read the directions and there was nooooo way that I was going to try that with a 7 year old! I already have enough glitter in my stamp area, don't need it all over my kitchen, too!!! Well, we stuck with the tried and true PAAS dye and they turned out great!!! Dakota was soooo proud of his Easter eggs!

Inspiration Every Where

Ever since I started stamping, I find myself looking at different things for inspiration, whether it be a color combo of something like a piece of clothing or even furniture, or a design of something that makes me think of a sketch layout. Well, the other day, a lady who works for a new apartment complex in Lexington, brought by a little celophane bag with homemade chocolate chip cookies in it. They do something like this almost every month to promote the complex. And whataya know, the celo bag those delicious cookies were in was great inspiration to me! I HAD to make the design on that bag into a card. The colors and the layout were perfect and I could NOT resist those lady bugs! I used Green Galore and Gable Green for the bottom strip and then a piece of whisper white with holes punched out, then mounted on Black. Then another piece with Green Galore and Gable Green layered, then another strip with White and Black. I stamped the flower from Office Accoutrement on Tempting Turquoise with the same color ink, but did not like how it looked, so I cut it out and turned it over and doodled with markers. Added the smaller flower stamped on Yo-Yo Yellow and mounted with pop dots. I stamped the ladybugs from Winged Things on Real Red, cut out and glued them down and then drew the wings and legs back on (I had to cut them off when I cut the ladybugs out). Then I added doodles around the green pieces and stamped "Happy Place" from Cute Converse. I love how it turned out!!! It is a close match to the inspiration, don'tcha think???!!!!

Very Sparkly!

I now have glitter all over my stamp area, on me, even on my poor cat! But I think it was worth it because I love the outcome of this card! It is kind of a case from a card in the Spring Mini (page 17). I started out with stamping the flower from Office Accoutrement (boy that's not easy to say or spell!) with Cameo Coral on Barely Banana cs, cut it out and also stamped the little flower, from the same set, with Basic Brown ink and cut out. I wheeled the Blossoms and Bugs with Chocolate Chip ink and then colored with Watercolor Pencils. Then I went to town with Dazzling Diamonds on all stamped pieces! I mounted the wheeled piece onto a More Mustard strip and mounted that to the Chocolate Chip card base. The square piece is More Mustard with a piece of brown grossgrain ribbon wrapped around and then stapled and that piece is mounted on Barely Banana. I adhered the flowers with pop dots and then stamped "sweet" from So Very and punched out with the Word Window punch. Like I said, VERY SPARKLY!!

Doodle This, Doodle That

I just got this set and couldn't wait to mount it! Then was stumped on what to do with it!!! I have seen so many terrific cards on SCS, so decided that I had to try. I started with Lavender Lace card base stamped with the Canvas BG. Next is Summer Sun, also stamped with Canvas BG and then distressed the edges with the SU! cutter tool (I love that thing!). The Very Vanilla piece was first stamped with French Script BG with Summer Sun and then stamped the flower from Doodle This and the swirly stem, leaf thingy from Doodle That with black Stazon. I colored the images with my NEW SU! watercolor crayons and a blender pen. I layered another cut out flower with pop dots and added a little Dazzling Diamonds to the dots. For the tag, I used the big and small Tag Punches, but made the tags a little longer (saw that trick at SU's Atlanta Regionals) to fit the "Thinking of You" sentiment from Warmest Regards. Added a little piece of ivory organdy ribbon and there you have it! I am really pleased with it. This card is going to a friend, Dora Ann, who owns a little gift shop here in Lexington called Heartfelt Gifts (you have to check it out if you are in the Columbia, SC area). Her Mother passed away last week and I just wanted her to know that I was thinking about her in this difficult time.
